Melkeya Horne is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University, where she earned a degree in Finance and Accounting, she began her professional career as an accountant with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. After becoming a mother, she returned home to Miami and continued advancing her education, earning an MBA in Finance from Nova Southeastern University.
Her professional experience spans both the public and private sectors. She has held accounting roles at IVAX Pharmaceuticals and Charter Schools USA, and later served as a CMBS Analyst and investor with LNR Properties. Currently, she serves as the Senior Grant Accountant for the City of Fort Lauderdale, where she oversees complex grant funding and ensures compliance, financial accuracy, and fiscal accountability.
In addition to her professional career, she serves on the National Board of Directors for SISTUHS Incorporated as Second Vice President, contributing to strategic leadership, governance, and organizational growth. She is also the founder of Horne Financial Services, a firm dedicated to providing premium financial support to businesses within her community, helping them strengthen operations, improve financial clarity, and achieve sustainable growth.
